'So weird' - What Man United fans are saying about Wayne Rooney and Derby County after cup win - Derbyshire Live

Manchester united fans have been giving their reaction to victory over Derby County - and an emotional reunion with Wayne Rooney.

Rooney - United's all-time record goalscorer - came up against his old club in Thursday night's FA Cup fifth round tie at Pride Park Stadium.

The Rams skipper could not inspire Derby to an upset, though, as the visitors triumphed 3-0 to set up a quarter-final showdown with Norwich City.

Odion Ighalo scored twice after defender Luke Shaw had opened the scoring.

Here's what some United supporters had to say after the match on Twitter...

Joakim Gray: I don't want to sound like I'm being reactionary or anything, but Odion Ighalo is the next R9.

Man United Source: Great performance but can we swap Lingard/Pereira for Rooney?

TYLER STEVEN: Gone are the days when small Teams gave us a hard time, am looking at a team that wants to win games, plays on a front foot and has confidence. The Re-Building progress is so far so good.

BrunoSZN: All thanks to Ole, look at how many deadwood players he’s binned off. Only impatient and demanding fans are saying Ole out because his rebuild isn’t taking 1 week. I trust his movement.

Alexander Umeakubuike: RT if you love Odion Ighalo.

Michael Reid: Honestly been surprised by Ighalo. He's looked a great poacher in the box, clearly something we've been missing! Well in!

Daniel: Good win, great to see Shaw continue his form from recent weeks and for Ighalo to get a couple of goals. One step closer to the cup!

Sam: Good performance for once.

@flowinkuyava: Into the quarter-finals. Reds.

Mia Rodrigues: Bring on Norwich!

Mateusz Hume: Romero must play on Sunday.

@JuanAnderOnly: Good night, 3 goals into the quarters and a pleasure to watch this man (Rooney) play again. Captain, Leader, Legend.

Ali Osman Bulle: Derby can make Luke Shaw look like prime Roberto Carlos and even let Ighalo score a brace. Yet Lingard and Pereira still look like Lingard and Pereira. There is no hope for these two.

Rohit Gupta: Solid professional performance! Luke was awesome and so happy for Ighalo!

Akinfolarin Joseph: Luke Shaw goal and assist

Ighalo goals

A win

A clean sheet

It does not come better than that!!!

Jordan W: We mooove. We're gonna win the FA Cup lads.

@UncleLumi: Job done.

Bunty: Get him (Rooney) back please.

Izzatem: Comfortable win by United. Great to see Wayne Rooney playing, like the old times with United. Only the position diff from striker to central midfielder. Overall, we ready to go for City game, everyone seems on fire with fine forms!

The Man Utd Way: 3-0 up and the away end has been singing Wayne Rooney’s name for the majority of the second half. Will always be a special player to every single United fan around the world.

@RiZzyUTD: I don't think I ever loved a player the way I Ioved Rooney during my childhood. He was my absolute hero. Still is to some extent tbf. It just feels so weird seeing him play against us.

Devils of United: Wayne Rooney still offers more than some of our current players. He certainly isn’t finished at all, some of his passes tonight have been top notch. Class is permanent from Wazza.
